LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University women's tennis team moved to 4-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) competition with a 9-0 shutout at home against Clarks Summit University on Wednesday afternoon.
Cairn (7-4, 4-0 CSAC) won all three matches in doubles play over Clarks Summit (2-8, 1-2 CSAC) paced by the tandem of senior
Paige Kemper (Lancaster, PA / Garden Spot) and sophomore
Ersy Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) with an 8-0 shutout at No. 1 doubles. Junior
Rachel Campbell-Robertson (Veritas, VA / Veritas School) and sophomore
Rebekah Hepp collected a narrow 8-7 win at No. 2 doubles, and juniors
Abby Horning (St. Adamstown, PA / Cocalico) and
Gabriella Hurst (Stevens, PA / Cocalico) won by default.
Kemper notched a 6-3, 6-0 win over her opponent at No. 1 singles, while Campbell-Robertson matched earned a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of her opponent at the No. 2 spot. Neal won 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 3 slot, while Horning earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles. Hepp posted a 6-0, 6-1 triumph in the No. 5 slating, and Hurst rounded out the day for Cairn with a win by default at No. 6 singles.
The Highlanders will be back on the court on Friday, April 21 when they welcome Mercer County Community College to Langhorne for a matchup inside the McCurdy Tennis Facility at 3 p.m.
