MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The Cairn University men's tennis team earned an 8-1 victory on the road at Saint Elizabeth University on Saturday afternoon, moving to 2-1 since returning from Spring Break.
Cairn (3-6) swept the doubles and singles competition in the match against Saint Elizabeth (2-5), led by the duo of seniors
Timothy Robinson Jr. (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) and
Joel Cassel (Glenside, PA / Calvary Christian Academy) with an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore
Joel Kim (Harrington Park, NJ / Black Forest Academy) and freshman
Jacob Gossel (Allentown, PA / Covenant Christian) won 8-1 in the No. 2 doubles position, and the freshen tandem of
Daniel Stange and
Ethan Fan claimed an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Kim led the singles competitors with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, followed by Cassel with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph at the No. 2 spot. Stange earned a 6-0, 6-3 win in No. 4 singles, while Gossel posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory in the No. 5 position. Fan rounded out the day for Cairn with a 6-0, 6-1 besting of his opponent at No. 6 singles.
The Highlanders will be back on the court on Wednesday, April 19 when they return home to take on Clarks Summit University inside the McCurdy Tennis Facility at 3 p.m.
