Women’s Basketball: Highlanders Drop Home CSAC Tilt to Defending CSAC Champion, Clarks Summit

LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University women's basketball team lost, 73-52, at home against defending Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) champion Clarks Summit University inside the Mason Activity Center on Wednesday evening.
 
Clarks Summit (14-7, 12-3 CSAC) took and early 22-12 lead over Cairn (4-17, 2-13 CSAC) just over seven minutes into the contest. The Highlanders cut the deficit to eight (25-17) after one, and were withing striking distance at intermission (39-26). Clarks Summit controlled the third frame to a 25-11 advantage, before Cairn finished off the bout well, outscoring the Defenders 15-11 in the final period.
 
Clarks Summit narrowly out shot Cairn in the contest, 32.6% (29-89) to 30.9% (21-68), while both teams matched one another in rebounding (55-55). Clarks Summit won the bout in transition, forcing 30 Highlanders turnovers and scored 27 points off of those miscues. The Defenders posted 29 fast break points in the contest.
 
Cairn was paced by sophomore Taylor Hinson (Carney's Point, NJ / Collingswood HS), who notched her fourth consecutive 20-point effort with a game-high 21 points to pair with 11 rebounds and four blocks. Classmate Tamia Warner (Ewing, NJ / Ewing HS) followed with a 16-points, 15-rebound double-double, while freshman Dreyonna Graham (Morrisville, PA / Morrisville HS) added eight points and six boards. Sophomore Kailee Sobrino (Tucson, AZ / Empire HS) dished out a team-high nine assists for the Highlanders.
 
The Highlanders will not enter a two-game road swing starting in Phoenixville on Saturday, February 11 when they travel to the University of Valley Forge for a conference tilt at 2 p.m.
