LOGAN TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Cairn University Men's & Women's Cross Country teams took to the road to compete in the NCAA Region V Regional Meet hosted by Rowan University at Gloucester County DREAM Park in Logan Township, NJ on Saturday. Multiple personal records were set along with the program record for Women's 6K.
The men hit the course first at 11 a.m. and were led once again by freshman
Danny Kushay (Cinnaminson, NJ / Calvary Christian Academy), this time setting a new personal record with a time of 31:01.5 in 131
st place. Senior
Nicholas Palladino (Langhorne, PA / Homeschool) was next in 136
th finishing with a time of 31:28.9. Junior
Avian Hall (Brooklyn, NY / Homeschool) followed with a time of 31:41.9.
Aaron Frisch finished at 38:50.8. Seniors
Taylor Heim (Levittown, PA / Homeschool) and
Andrew Higgins (North Hampton, NH / Jesse Remington High School) rounded out the Highlander field with times of 39:08.9 and 39:15.8, respectively. Along with Kushay, Hall, Frisch, and Heim also set new personal bests. As a team, the Men's squad finished 24
th overall.
For the Highlanders in the women's race, sophomore
AyliGrace Munro (Bar Harbor, ME / Mount Desert Island HS) was the standout performer Saturday, setting a new personal record and
program record for fastest 6K run with a time of 23:43.8, 16 seconds faster than the previous record holder (Ellen Squier, 25:59.0 in 2012). Munro placed 41
st in the NCAA Regional Meet out of a field of 189 runners. The next Highlander runner was junior
Erin Wilson (Southampton, PA / Calvary Christian Academy) with a time of 28:54.7 trailed by senior
Jordan Harvey (Chichester, PA / The Christian Academy) clocking in at 29:57.6. Sophomores
Morgan Steele (Bowie, MD / Estele Christian Academy) and
Kate O'Brien (Lumberton, NJ / Trinity Preparatory) closed out the runners for Cairn with times of 30:58.9 and 32:33.4, respectively. All 5 participating Cairn Women's runners set new personal records!
This year was one for the books with plenty of personal records and podium finishes to go, topping off with a record-breaking performance at the NCAA Regional. Saturday concludes the regular season for the Highlander Cross Country teams as they run forward to the 2024 season.
