ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Cairn University women's basketball team lost, 65-51, on the road at Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Rosemont College on Saturday afternoon.
Rosemont (3-13, 3-9 CSAC) collected the early edge, holding a 16-9 lead over Cairn (4-14, 2-10 CSAC) after one quarter. The Ravens held a 21-14 lead at the midway point of the second quarter, before Cairn closed the frame on a 12-4 run to take a one-point lead (26-25) into the halftime break.
Cairn clung to a three-point lead (35-32) at the 4:47 mark of the third period, but a quick 14-3 sprint by the Ravens to end the period gave them an eight-point lead entering the fourth. Cairn did not come within double digits of the lead in the final stanza.
Rosemont outshot the Highlanders 40.6% (28-69) to 27.8% (15-54) and narrowly held the edge in rebounding (45-41). Rosemont won the bout in the paint, posting a 42-22 advantage.
Cairn was led by sophomore
Taylor Hinson (Carney's Point, NJ / Collingswood HS), who notched her 10
th double-double of the season with a game-high 27 points to go along with 10 boards. Classmate
Tamia Warner (Ewing, NJ / Ewing HS) followed in double figures with 11 points, while freshman
Tatiana Ipri (Mullica Hill, NJ / Gloucester County Christian School) matched Hinson with a career-high 10 rebounds.
The Highlanders will be back on the floor on Wednesday, February 1 when they return home for a conference tilt with Saint Elizabeth University inside the Mason Activity Center at 6 p.m.
