LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University women's tennis team won, 9-0, in shutout fashion at home against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) adversary Rosemont College on Friday in their spring home opener inside the McCurdy Facility, collecting their sixth-straight shutout.
Cairn (11-1, 1-0 CSAC) swept all three doubles matches, headlined by an 8-0 blanking in the No. 1 spot by the pairing of senior
Sarah Jackson (Milltown, NJ / Middlesex County College) and freshman
Ersy Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) and another shutout courtesy of sophomore
Abby Horning (St. Adamstown, PA / Cocalico) and
Gabriella Hurst (Stevens, PA / Cocalico) in the No. 3 slot. Sophomore
Rachel Campbell-Robertson (Richmond, VA / Veritas School) rounded out the doubles matches with an 8-1 triumph in the No. 2 slating.
Cairn swept all six singles matches which included four shutouts, led by junior
Paige Kemper (Lancaster, PA / Garden Spot) with a 6-0, 6-0 besting of her opponent in No. 1 singles.
Ersy Neal and Hurst each claimed shutout victories in the No. 3 and No. 6 spots, respectively, while sophomore
Brianna Miller (Delta, PA / Kennard-Dale) shutout her adversary in No. 2 singles. Horning and
Daphne Neal rounded out the singles victories for the Highlanders, winning by scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-2, respectively.
The Highlanders will be back on the court tomorrow when it hits the road for a conference bout with Saint Elizabeth University in Morristown at 10 a.m.
