Softball: Highlanders Drop Conference Twin Bill at Rosemont

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Cairn University softball team dropped both games on the road in their Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) doubleheader against Rosemont College, falling 9-5 in game one before dropping a 12-0 decision in game two.

In game one, Rosemont (13-15, 9-3 CSAC) took the early lead off of a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Cairn (6-22, 3-11 CSAC) regained the advantage after posting a three-spot in the second inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single by junior Jenna Kenyon (Clarkesville, MD / River Hill). The Ravens held a 4-3 lead after five innings, before the Highlanders re-took the lead following a two-RBI base knock by freshman Abbi Heacock (Media, PA / Delco Christian). However, the Ravens utilized a five-run bottom half of the sixth to take a commanding lead and finish off the contest. Rosemont used that momentum to handily defeat the Highlanders in game two.

Kenyon led the Highlanders in game one with a three-for-three day at the plate, notching a pair of RBIs. Four other Highlanders had multi-hit games on the day, including juniors Theresa Beck (Lansdale, PA / Dock Mennonite Academy), Emma Holmes (Newtown, PA / Council Rock North) and Kacey Wees (Irwin, PA / Hempfield) and freshman Kathryn Reid (Boonville, NY / South Lewis).

The Highlanders will be back on the field on Friday, April 29 when they take the field in an exhibition doubleheader against Bucks County Community College inside the Stillman Complex at 3 PM.
