ALLENTOWN, PA - In a battle of the two remaining unbeaten CSAC teams, the Highlanders won convincingly at 9-0 to earn home court advantage for the upcoming CSAC championship tournament.
The Falcons entered the match down a player and were forced to forfeit the #3 doubles and #6 singles matches, giving the Highlanders an early 2-0 advantage.
The Highlanders played well in each of their singles and double matchups.
Paige Kemper won convincingly in the #1 singles slot (6-0, 6-0), and no Highlander singles player dropped more than 3 games in any of their matchups.
In doubles, the #1 pair of
Lauren Griffith and
Sarah Jackson won 8-0, and the #2 doubles pair of
Rachel Campbell-Robertson and
Gabriella Hurst beat their Falcon opponents 8-3.
With the 9-0 win, the Highlanders secure the #1 seed and home court advantage in the upcoming CSAC women's tennis championship tournament. They will host the #4 seeded Clarks Summit Defenders on Friday, April 30th. If they win, they will advance to host the CSAC championship match on Saturday, May 1st, versus the winner of the Rosemont & Cedar Crest semifinal. Cairn is currently the reigning CSAC champion in women's tennis dating back to 2019, as the 2020 tennis championship was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
