MIDDLEBURY, VT- The Highlanders storybook 2019 season came to an end in the NCAA tournament with a 5-0 loss to the Moravian College Greyhounds.
The Highlanders made the trip north to Middlebury College for the first NCAA tournament appearance in program history. Cairn played their hearts out, but were unable to overcome the powerhouse 20-1 Greyhounds of Moravian College. The Highlanders started in an unfamiliar spot, dropping all three doubles matches.
Maya Neal and
Allyssa Peters managed to take two games off the Greyhounds #1 doubles team of Emma Angle and Eiman Nazif, but dropped the match 8-2. Singles play started on a more optimistic note, with the Highlanders battling hard as
Allyssa Peters and
Lauren Griffith each picked up a couple wins in early in their sets. Despite their tough play, the Highlanders excellent season came to an end.
The Highlanders end the year with great optimism for the future, as their young lineup blossomed throughout the season into a truly formidable force. Cairn will exit the match with nothing but great memories of their first NCAA tournament appearance.
