LANGHORNE, PA- The Highlanders played their first home doubleheader of the season Saturday afternoon against the Rosemont Ravens. In two closely-contested contests, the Highlanders came away with a split after winning the first 8-4, and dropping the second 2-6.

The first game displayed the best of the Highlanders formidable talents.
Krista Earl pitched a gem, and the Highlanders bats burst out to the tune of 12 hits and 8 runs. After a run from the Ravens in the first, Cairn bounced back over the next two innings. Jess Rolo knocked home
Olivia Nieto and
Angela Paskitti singled up the middle to score
Hailey Wruck and take the lead.
Meagan Maratita kept the hit-parade going in the 3
rd with a double to score
Haley Tinney, and
Krista Earl plated Maratita with a single of her own. Earl cruised through the Rosemont lineup, keeping the Ravens off-balance with pinpoint accuracy and knee-buckling offspeed pitches. Rosemont bucked their heads in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two runs to get within one- but the Highlanders answered instantly in the bottom frame.
Haley Tinney and
Meagan Maratita each singled and stole second.
Olivia Nieto walked and stole second, and all three runners eventually hustled home on wild pitches to give the Highlanders an 8-4 lead. Earl shut the door, and Cairn picked up their 7
th win of the season.
Haley Tinney finished with 3 hits, while Maratita, Nieto, Wruck, and Paskitti all notched 2.

The second game stayed quiet until the fifth inning. Rosemont scored to start the game once more, but a
Haley Tinney walk and
Olivia Nieto single evened the game in the bottom half. Cairn's
Meagan Maratita pitched great, allowing only 3 hits until the top of the 5
th. The Ravens broke out in the fifth, capitalizing on two errors from the Highlanders and notching 4 runs to take a 6-1 lead. The Highlanders got a run back in the bottom half, but could not muster any further late game heroics and fell in game two.
Krista Earl did her damage at the plate this game, going 3-4 with 1 RBI.

The Highlanders travel to John Jay College Sunday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
