CHAMBERSBURG, PA- The Highlanders wrapped up their season Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader against the CSAC's top-seeded Wilson College Phoenix.
Â
ÂUnfortunately, the Highlanders faced off against Wilson's ace Megan Potter in both contests. Potter, who has won an unbelievable 17 games this season, defeated Cairn in both contests, despite the Highlanders offensive rally in game two. While the Highlanders may have fallen, they wrapped up a 2019 season that saw many positives. A number of freshmen contributed for the Highlanders in a major way, in addition to the Highlanders high-powered upperclassmen. Freshman catcher
Olivia Nieto led the Highlanders with a .369 average and a team-leading 7 doubles. Junior
Haley Tinney played top-notch defense all around the field, while also hitting .367 and swiping 9 bags. Freshman third basemen
Tori Knox hit .349 with 7 doubles and a team-leading 16 RBI, while junior
Meagan Maratita hit .317 with 25 runs scored, a perfect 10-10 on stolen bases, and the Highlanders only homerun of the season. The season also spells the end of the excellent career of
Katelynn Reiss. The senior was a huge asset for the Highlanders in the middle of the lineup throughout her career, while also providing a great glove at first base. On the mound
Krista Earl led the Highlanders once again with 120.2 innings pitched, a 4.92 ERA and 9 wins on the year.

Congratulations to the Highlanders for a great 2019 season!
