Highlanders Finish Stellar 2018-19 Season

LA PLUME, PA- After a third hard-fought battle against Keystone College, the Highlanders officially put a bow on their 2018-19 season with the 69-60 loss.

Keystone jumped out to an early lead, but the Highlanders remained in distance thanks to the long-range shooting of Payton Emerick and Aigner Bookard. The Stum sisters joined the scoring ranks near the end of the quarter with two jumpers and two free throws to tie the contest 16-16 at the end of the first quarter. Keystone's dynamic point guard Mac Oribello began to exert her influence on the night's proceedings in the second quarter. The freshman slashed to the rim and knocked down a couple jumpers to give Keystone a 5 point lead at the half. Buoyed by their home crowd, the Giants stretched the lead to 17 in the third quarter. With the season on the line, Cairn chipped away at the Keystone lead. Charlotte Camp, Kendra Stum, and Bookard each knocked down jumpers as the Highlanders inched closer. Unfortunately, the Highlanders were done in by the buzzer and their excellent 2018-19 season came to an end.

Tori Stum (12 points, 11 rebounds) continued her excellent play with another double-double, while Payton Emerick notched 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

The Highlanders finished with the most wins since 2018-19 and saw the careers of three of the most decorated Highlanders come to a close. Kendra Stum made her mark all across the Highlanders record books in her four years. The forward finished 9th on the all-time scoring list, 7th on the rebounding list, 4th all-time in steals, and 2nd in blocks. Payton Emerick, known for her relentless spirit on the court, finished as the 4th best rebounder in Cairn history and 12th all-time in steals. Finally, Aigner Bookard notched 168 steals to finish 9th all-time in Highlander history.
