BRYN ATHYN, PA- The Highlanders fell in CSAC play to the Bryn Athyn Lions Saturday afternoon. Cairn fought hard and erased a 19 point fourth quarter deficit, but the Highlanders were unable to come all the way back, dropping the contest by a final score of 56-58.

The Highlanders were blitzed by Bryn Athyn from the start- Cairn struggled to find any sort of rhythm offensively, shooting just 21% from the field and finishing with 8 turnovers in the first half. The Highlanders trailed by 19 heading into the fourth quarter, but quickly started to chip away at the Bryn Athyn lead.Â
Kendra Stum,
Dakota Hitchner, and
Payton Emerick all found their form, each knocking down a couple jumpers to bring the Highlanders back within single digits. Layups from
Melissa Good and
Charlotte Allen put the score at 54-56 with just 1:24 on the clock. Allen split a pair of free throws to come within one, but Bryn Athyn knocked free throws on the other end, hanging on and taking the 58-56 victory.

Hitchner finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds, Stum notched 9 points and 9 rebounds, and Emerick carded 8 points and 9 rebounds of her own. The Highlanders will take on Valley Forge on Thursday at 7:00 PM before hosting Centenary University in another huge CSAC matchup next Saturday.
