MEDIA, PA- The Highlanders traveled to Penn State Brandywine to play the Nittany Lions in an out-of-conference match. Hitting their stride over the second half of the season, all of their hard work culminated in a perfect 9-0 sweep of the Nittany Lions in this afternoon's match.
In doubles play, Cairn dropped only 7 games as the teams of Maya Neal and Charlotte Camp, Mariah Wilson and Ellie Santos, and Joy Englehart and Katelyn Loveless all played excellent matches to take the first three points of the afternoon. In singles play, Maya Neal eked out a win, taking the first game 7-6, and thoroughly taking the second 6-4.
Kara Williams blanked her opponent, winning 6-0, 6-0; Ellie Santos sacrificed only two games, and Mariah Williams, Charlotte Camp, and Rachel Smith all thoroughly dominated their opponents to give Cairn the clean sweep, 9-0.
The Highlanders young team has really rounded into shape over the season, winning five of their last six matches to sit at 5-6 with one more chance to bring their record to an even .500 against PSU Abington next Monday at home.
