Highlanders Laid Low by Knights in Season Finale

LANGHORNE, PA- The Highlanders concluded their season Saturday afternoon, showing great effort as always, but falling to the high-powered offense of the visiting Neumann University Knights.

After playing the 17-7 Knights tough in their first matchup of the season, the Highlanders struggled to contend with Neumann's stifling pressure defense in today's matchup. Some turnover issues and cold shooting in the first and fourth quarters spelled the Highlanders defeat in the season finale. Despite the loss, Kendra Stum played an excellent game with 15 points on 7-10 shooting and another 4 steals. Tori Stum played a solid game as well with 7 points and 8 rebounds to buoy the Highlanders interior presence.

The Highlanders finished with double-digit wins for the second straight season, with a number of notable wins, including a 75-70 overtime thriller against Penn State Berks, and a three game winning streak in the season's final weeks. Coach Walt Zamroz and his coaching staff have to be proud of the team's efforts, as despite nagging injuries for much of the roster, seven players averaged over six points per game for the season. The Highlanders were led offensively by Kendra Stum (10.9 points per game, 5 rebounds per game, 2.74 steals per game) and Aigner Bookard (9.6 points per game), while jack-of-all trades guard Payton Emerick nearly averaged a double-double for the season with 9.0 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game. The Highlanders can hold their heads high after another positive season, and eagerly await next year as their young roster gained valuable experience this season.

Stay tuned for all-conference awards over the next couple weeks!
