Highlanders Victorious on Senior Night

LANGHORNE, PA- Seeking another CSAC victory, the Highlanders hosted the Clarks Summit University Defenders in tonight's senior night matchup. Buoyed by an exuberant home crowd, the Highlanders outlasted Clarks Summit, winning by a final score of 69-59.

After honoring Amanda Good and Katie Bruner in a pregame senior night ceremony, the Highlanders started out hot, taking a 10-5 lead when Jenna Krage corralled an offensive rebound and shoveled it up and in. As the first quarter wound to a close, Payton Emerick splashed a three to keep the Highlanders ahead. The Defenders fought back in the second quarter, taking the lead 16-13, but Krage continued her hot-shooting- hitting 3 three pointers in the second to keep the Highlanders on pace with Clarks Summit. With thirty seconds left in the second quarter Aigner Bookard made her mark on the game with a three, and a smooth, no look assist to Melissa Good as time expired to send Cairn in with a 29-27 lead.

The Defenders' Randie Traxler caught fire in the second half, but timely jump-shooting from Bookard and Charlotte Camp kept Clarks Summit at bay. The Highlanders continued to stretch their lead in the fourth quarter, as Melissa Good and Krage opened the quarter with threes. Despite 7 three-pointers from the Defenders in the second half, Cairn hung on for their 10th win of the season as senior Amanda Good sealed the deal with a couple free throws down the stretch.

Aigner Bookard led with 17 points and 6 assists, while Krage netted a career-high 15 points on 4 three-pointers. Charlotte Camp also finished with a career-high 17 rebounds to tie for the 5th all-time single game performance in Highlander history.

The Highlanders only have two games left this season as they will play at Rosemont College, February 14th, and wrap up the season by hosting Neumann University on February 17th at 1:00 PM.
