HACKETTSTOWN, NJ- The Highlanders opened up CSAC play with a 61-56 win against the Centenary Cyclones in Reeves Gymnasium.
The Highlanders took an early lead with a 6-0 run at the end of the first quarter. However, the Cyclones came storming back beating the Highlanders 19-12 in the second quarter and taking a one point lead in the half.
Kendra Stum and
Dakota Hitchner found their form in the second half as both notched 7 points in the third quarter to put the Highlanders atop 45-42. Cairn stretched their lead in the fourth as
Melissa Good,
Aigner Bookard, and
Kendra Stum each splashed home buckets early on in the period to give the Highlanders a 52-44 lead. Cairn held onto the lead, expertly knocking down their free throws over the finishing minutes to complete their first conference victory 61-56.
Kendra Stum finished with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals while Hitchner also tallied 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals.
The Highlanders will host Wilson College at 6:00 PM Wednesday night for their second CSAC tilt of the season.
