Cabrini Sweeps Highlanders in Saturday Doubleheader

Langhorne, PA - The Cairn softball team suffered a 15-0 defeat at the hands of the Cabrini Cavaliers on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Game One of a doubleheader. The Cavaliers followed up the Game One victory with a 10-0 win in the second game to sweep the Highlanders. Cairn struggled to get the offense going in Game Two registering only two hits in the contest.

Game One - Cabrini defeats Cairn 15-0
The Cavaliers scored early and often to build a comfortable lead before cruising to the victory. Cabrini scored 14 of their 15 runs in the first three frames and tallied just one run across the final two frames to lock up the win.

For the Highlanders, Haley Tinney led the offensive effort with a 3-3 mark ar the plate. She accounted for three of Cairn's five hits in the game.

In the circle, Angela Paskitti tossed a complete game and was given the loss. She falls to 2-2 on the season.

Cairn had their best chance in the bottom of the first when Tinney led off the game with a ground-rule double, but was stranded at second. It was the only runner the Highlanders would have in scoring position in the game.

Game Two - Cabrini defeats Cairn 10-0
Cabrini scored two runs in the top of the first, but then stranded the bases loaded in both the second and third and were unable to expand their lead. Heading to the fourth, the Cavaliers led 2-0 before taking advantage of two Cairn errors in the fourth and scoring eight runs to blow tha game open.

Cairn mustered just two hits in the game with Angela Paskitti and Jenna Alshay each collecting a single.

In the circle, Haley Tinney went the distance allowing 10 runs (four earned) on six hits and 11 walks. Tinney took the loss and fell to 1-3 on the season.

Cairn will next take the field when they travel to Brooklyn College to take on the Bulldogs in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The first game is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m.
