Aston, PA - The Cairn softball traveled to Neumann University for a CSAC doubleheader against the Knights on Monday afternoon. Neumann got the best of the Highlanders in a pair of lopsided victories. The Knights took the first game 26-1 before Neumann tossed a run-shortened, five-inning perfect game against the Highlanders in a 14-0 victory in the nightcap.
Game One - Neumann defeats Cairn 26-1 (five innings)
In Game One, the Highlanders struck for a run in the top of the first when
Katelynn Reiss reached on a fielder's choice to allow
Haley Tinney to score from third.
Unfortunately, the Knights countered with a 13-run bottom of the first to take a 13-1 advantage. Neumann never looked back and eventually scored 26 unanswered runs en route to the 26-1 victory.
Vanessa Munoz tossed a complete game, but picked up the loss in the contest.
Munoz led the Highlanders at the dish with two of Cairn's four hits in the game.
Jessica Rolo and
Keely Congleton each connected for a hit to account for the other two knocks for Cairn.
Game Two - Neumann defeats Cairn 14-0 (five innings)
In Game Two, the Knights' Haley Broomell dominated the Highlanders to the tune of a perfect game. Broomell turned away all 15 batters she faced while the Neumann offense scored in each of their four trips to the plate in the 14-0 victory.
Broomell struck out six batters while getting six groundballs and three fly outs in the game.

Angela Paskitti threw four innings allowing 14 runs (11 earned) on 16 hits and three walks.
The pair of losses moves the Highlanders to 6-6 on the season and 0-6 in the CSAC. Cairn will next take the field on Friday when they travel to Cabrini to take on the Cavaliers in a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m.
