Radnor, PA - The Cairn women's basketball team fell to the Cabrini Cavaliers 65-42 on Wednesday night. The Cavs jumped out to a 20-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and led by at least double-digits the rest of the way.
Madelyn Brodish led the Highlanders with seventh double-double of the season and second in as any games with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Charlotte Camp also had a strong night with eight points and nine rebounds.
The Highlanders scored the first bucket of the game with a layup from
Aigner Bookard less than 90 seconds into the game. The lead was short-lived as the Cavaliers went on an 11-2 run over the next five minutes to take an 11-4 lead.
Charlotte Camp made a pair of jumpers late in the quarter, but the Cavs held a 20-8 lead heading into the second stanza.
In the second quarter, four Highlanders combined for 13 points with Brodish putting through her first six points of the game.
EJ Hartzler connected on a three later in the half, but the Highlanders trailed 39-21 at the break.
Cabrini's Cassidy Gallagher scored the first four points of the second-half on a pair of layups to take a 43-21 lead. The Cavaliers held at least a 20-point lead for the entire second-half en route to the 65-42 victory over the Highlanders.
The Cavaliers pushed their lead to as many as 26 points with a 65-39 lead late in the fourth quarter.
The Highlanders committed a season-high 29 turnovers in the game, against 12 turnovers for the Cavaliers.
Cabrini's Renee Oliver led all scorers with 13 points, she also grabbed 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.
The loss drops the Highlanders to 8-13 overall and 4-9 in the CSAC. Cairn will next take the court on Saturday when they host the Notre Dame (MD) Gators in the Mason Activity Center at 1:00 p.m.
