SCRANTON, PA- The Highlanders fought hard but were eventually defeated in both matches tonight against Marywood University and Keystone College.
In the first match of the night against Marywood, Cairn fell in straight sets, 0-3. The Highlanders have shown marked improvements as they slowly work their way back from injury, but have yet to get over the hump and achieve a victory. Cairn finally saw the return, however limited, from outside hitter
Lyntia Gwess. Gwess tallied 9 kills for the match for the Highlanders attack, and setter
Liz White, who had to be happy to have her top attacker back, dished out 11 assists. The ever-steady upperclassmen
Haley Sheehan worked her way to 7 digs as well for the Highlanders.Â
In the night's second match Cairn came much closer, but was again unable to achieve that ever elusive victory. Sheehan led the attack with 7 kills,
Liz White chipped in with 2 kills of her own, and Gwess tallied 3 more kills. The Highlanders are getting back into the swing with their planned on starting lineup and played 3 very close sets against the Giants.Â
Cairn will seek victory again this weekend when they host Cedar Crest College this Saturday at 1 PM.Â
