Langhorne, PA - The Penn State - Abington Nittany Lions took down the Cairn Highlanders in straight sets on Wednesday evening, 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-16). The highlight of the Highlanders night came in the first set when they rattled off a stretch of 13 of 19 points to close a 19-4 gap to 25-17 at the end of the set.

Haley Sheehan and Whitney Seidel led the Highlanders offensive attach with seven and six kills on the night. Liz White led Cairn with 12 assists in the match.

As mentioned the Nittany Lions jumped out to an early 19-4 lead in the first set before the Highlanders began their comeback. Cairn later trailed 22-6, before winning 11 of the next 13 points before falling in the set, 25-17. The run was highlighted by a pair of service aces by Ashley Wharton and a pair of kills by Whitney Seidel.

In the second set the Nittany Lions jumped out to leads of 9-3, 12-7, and 14-8. Unlike the first set the Highlanders' run would never come as Penn State - Abington finished the set on an 11-2 run to win the second set 25-10 and take a two set lead heading into the third set.

In set three Cairn trailed 11-9 before the Nittany Lions went on a 5-0 run to distance to separate themselves from the Highlanders. Now with a seven-point lead, the Nittany Lions continued to grow their lead eventually leading by double-digits at 21-11 and 24-14. Consecutive kills by Whitney Seidel were not enough as Penn State - Abington won the final point of the match on a kill from Samantha Isleib.

The Highlanders will have a quick turnaround as they host Notre Dame University of Maryland on their home court at 7:00 p.m.
