Langhorne, PA – The Cairn Highlanders hosted the Penn State – Brandywine Nittany Lions in a non-conference tennis match on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon. The Highlanders took two of three doubles matches and five of the six singles patches to come away with their third victory of the season by a 7-2 final.
The effort was highlighted by a number of strong individual performances;
Rebecca Graber,
Kara Williams,
Bianca Birney, and
Maya Neal were all 2-0 on the afternoon picking up victories in both singles play and their doubles match.
In doubles play the Highlanders picked up a pair of 8-1 victories. In the number one singles spot,
Rebecca Graber and
Bianca Birney teamed up to remain perfect as a duo in doubles play. Graber and Birney are 3-0 as a team this season after winning today's match 8-1.
In the third doubles match,
Kara Williams and
Maya Neal took down Brandywine's Elizabeth Sexton and Tatyana Benjamin-Lew 8-1.
Williams highlighted the Highlanders effort in singles play with her first victory at the number two singles position. Williams defeated Roxane-Mae Agno 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 7-6 (10-7) in the most closely contested match of the day.
With the win the Highlanders more to 3-2 on the season and they will next take the court on Friday when they host Immaculata University at 3:30 p.m. in a CSAC match.
