Gwynedd Valley, PA - The Cairn Highlanders opened the 2016 season on Saturday at Gwynedd Mercy and suffered a 9-0 loss. The Griffin's, last year's CSAC Champion, dominated the Highlanders from top to bottom. Aslyn Kirks led the Highlanders by picking up a pair of games in the second set of her number six singles match. Kirks was the lone Highlander to pick-up more than one game in singles play.

Rebecca Graber and Maya Neal each picked up a game in singles play.

The Griffins swept through doubles play by defeating Cairn 8-0 in all three matches.

The Highlanders will take the court three times next week, beginning on Tuesday with a match at Clarks Summit beginning at 4:00 p.m. On Friday the Highlanders will host Penn State - Abington in their home opener on Sept. 16.
