St. Davids, PA – Cairn University women's tennis played their first match of the spring at Eastern University and lost to the Eagles by a score of 9-0. The Eagles swept through every match to improve to 5-1 this season, while the Highlanders dropped to 5-10 including the fall season.
 
In doubles competition, Regina Younger and Ricki White were defeated 8-0 in the no. 3 spot, followed by Sara Keating and Lauren Caruso who took an 8-1 loss at no. 2 doubles. Rebecca Graber and Julia Derus dropped an 8-4 contest in the no. 1 spot to Kelly Archibald and Laura Thomas.
 
Keating had the most success for the Highlanders in the singles matchups, losing by scores of 6-4 and 6-3 in the no. 3 spot. Derus lost her no. 2 matchup 6-3, 6-2 to Archibald, while Graber lost a 6-0, 6-2 match to Emma Paugh at the no. 1 position.
 
The Highlanders will play two more matches this spring when they travel to Penn State Abington and Cabrini College towards the end of April.
