Langhorne, PA – The Highlanders won their first game of the season in their final game this season on a walk-off hit in game two against Rosemont College on Saturday afternoon. Cairn won the game 11-10 with the final hit coming from
Katelyn Loveless, which scored
Kendra Stum from second base.
Cairn was down 8-2 in the second game in the fourth inning but did not give up with their backs against the wall. The Highlanders scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to trail 8-6 and put up another four runs in the bottom of the fifth to go ahead 10-8.
The Highlanders hoped to hold on for the 10-8 win but Rosemont tied the game at 10-10 on a two-RBI single up the middle. Nikki Maurer came in to pitch for the Ravens in the sixth for Maggie Miller; Maurer held the Highlanders to 3 runs in Cairn's 12-3 loss to open the doubleheader.
Kendra Stum put herself on second base in the bottom of the 7
th with a double to right-center.
Katelyn Loveless then hit a single through the left side and gave Stum enough time to round third base and slide into home before the throw could get to the plate.
Stum was 1-for-3 in the game on her double, while Loveless was 3-for-4 with three RBI and a double.
Rachel Clark also had three hits and three RBI, while
Jessica Piccolo was 3-for-3 with three runs scored.
Jessica Rolo was 2-for-5 with two RBI and a double. In total, Cairn had 15 hits to Rosemont's six.

The games also took place on senior day as the Highlanders celebrated
Jessica Piccolo and
Rachel Clark as the two seniors on the team. Clark picked up her first win as a pitcher for the Highlanders.
Cairn also had 11 hits in the first game, highlighted by Piccolo's two-RBI single in the fourth inning. Piccolo had two hits in the game along with
Kaitlin Gibbs,
Katelyn Loveless, and
Katelyn Johnson.
With the results, Cairn ended their 2016 season with a 1-31 overall record and 1-21 record in the CSAC. Rosemont moved to 3-27 overall and 3-19 in the conference.
