Langhorne, PA – The Highlanders dropped two games to Summit University on Friday afternoon in softball action on Cairn University's campus. Cairn held a lead through four innings in game two but was unable to hold on as the Defenders won 11-3.
 
Summit started the doubleheader with a 16-2 win in game one, scoring six runs in each of the first two innings. Rachel Clark pitched both games for the Highlanders and had two strikeouts in each game.
 
Jessica Piccolo led the Highlanders in game one from the plate and went 2-for-3 with one run scored and a double. Keely Congleton also went 2-for-3 in the first game. Katelynn Reiss led the team in game two going 2-for-2 with two walks and one run scored.
 
Cairn scored two runs in the first inning of game two and was able to hold off the Defenders through four innings. However, the Defenders then broke through in the fifth inning to score seven runs. Summit added four more in the sixth inning.
 
With the losses Cairn fell to 0-22 overall and 0-12 in the CSAC. Summit improved to 6-18 overall and 3-7 in the conference with the wins. The Highlanders will continue conference play Saturday, April 16, as they travel to Marywood University.
