Results

Morrisville, PA - With weather in the forecast, Saturday afternoon's match with Marywood was moved to the nearby Pennsbury Racquet Club in Morrisville, Pa. The Highlanders earned victories in the top doubles and singles matches, but ultimately fell to the Pacers 7-2.

Bianca Birney and Rebecca Graber teamed up to compete in the most exciting match of the afternoon. Graber and Birney came back in the top doubles match from a 4-1 hole, winning the next six games to take a 7-4 lead before Marywood ultimately forced a tie-breaker. The duo regrouped and took the tie-breaker 7-4 to claim the match 9-8 (7-4).

Graber earned the lone singles victory for the Highlanders with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Abygail Doud in the top singles spot. Kara Williams won four games in the number two singles match, but fell 6-2, 6-2 against her Marywood opponent.

In the number three singles match, Birney picked up two games in the first set, but was swept in set two and fell 6-2, 6-0.

The Highlanders will now hit the road for a three-match road swing this week, beginning with a match at Stevenson on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m., before ending the season with a home match against Brooklyn College on Oct. 20 at 6:00 p.m.
