Rebecca Graber tied the program wins record in singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jamie Wojciechowski, her 32nd career victory. Despite Graber's victory at the top singles spot, the Highlanders fell to the visiting Cedar Crest Falcons 6-3 on Monday night. Cairn picked up a victory in the top doubles spot and two more wins in singles play, but the Falcons outlasted the Highlanders for their fourth CSAC victory of the season.
The duo of Graber and
Bianca Birney picked up Cairn's lone victory in doubles play at the top spot defeating the Cedar Crest team of Wokciechowski and Taylor Doran 8-4. The doubles victory for Graber and Birney marks their third-straight win as a team. On the season the pair is 6-1 with their lone loss coming against Cabrini in a 9-7 match on Sept. 24. In the number three doubles match,
Ricki White and
Angela James put up a fight before ultimately falling 8-6.
The strong play in her doubles match was a sign of things to come for
Angela James, in singles play the sophomore rolled through her opponent in the number six match for the 6-2, 6-0 victory. The win in singles play was James' fourth of the season.
As mentioned
Rebecca Graber picked up her 32nd victory this evening. The win was both her eighth win of the season and her eighth straight victory. Since falling in her season opening, Graber has dropped more than two games in a set just three times and has won each of those matches in straight-sets. Graber ties former number one Katelynn Wilson ('12) in victories. Wilson ended her career with a 32-24 mark (.571 win percentage) while Graber currently holds a career 32-6 record good for an .842 win percentage, far-and-away the highest of any Highlander with 12 or more career victories.
Graber will look to hold the record by herself when the Highlanders next take the court on Thursday when they host Kean University in a non-conference match at 7:00 p.m.
