Baltimore, MD - The Notre Dame of Maryland University Gators defeated the Cairn women's tennis team 5-4 on Friday afternoon. The Highlanders picked up two wins in both doubles and singles play but the Gators went 4-2 in singles play to secure the victory.

Rebecca Graber (6-1, 6-0) and Angela James (6-2, 6-3) earned victories in the number one and six singles matches respectively for Cairn's wins in singles play.

Kara Williams  fought to win seven games in a 6-2, 7-5 loss at the number three singles.

In doubles play, the Highlanders won the number one and number three matches by final scores of 8-5 in both. The team of Graber and Bianca Birney won their match at the top doubles spot and improved their doubles record to 9-1 on the season, including victories in each of their last six matches.

In the final doubles match, Ricki White and Angela James put together an 8-5 victory. The doubles win combined with James' singles victory helped her to a 2-0 record on the day.

Cairn will take the court on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Keystone for their final CSAC match of the season and take on the Giants at 12:00 p.m.
