Langhorne, PA - The Cairn Highlanders earned their first victory at home in nearly two years with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-6, 25-11) sweep of the visiting Trinity Washington University Tigers on Homecoming. Right from the start the Highlanders had control of the match, and continued that momentum through the final point.

Haley Sheehan led the offensive effort for the Highlanders with 11 kills. Whitney Seidel added seven kills of her own in the dominating performance for the Highlanders.

The match opened with a 6-2 run for the Highlanders, highlighted by kills from Haley Sheehan and Brie Norton. Liz White also picked up an service ace in the opening run. Holding an 8-6 lead over the Tigers, the Highlanders rattled off 17 of the final 20 points in the set to take set one 25-9. On this set-ending run, the Highlanders picked up four kills and four service aces to put away the Tigers.

Holding 1-0 lead in the match, the Highlanders came out even stronger in set two. Cairn led 13-2 midway through the set and continued that momentum throughout the entire game coming away with a 25-6 victory in the set. The 19-point margin in the set is their largest in a single-set since they took the first set against Centenary 25-5 on Oct. 22, 2013.

Firmly in control of the match, the Highlanders took care of business in the third, and what turned out to be final, set 25-11. While the Tigers did mont their strongest run of play midway through the set with a 4-2 run it wasn't enough as Cairn rattled off 11 of the final 13 points to take the set 25-11. Whitney Seidel earned the final two points for the Highlanders with a pair of kills off passes from Amanda Andujar and Liz White.

In the match the Highlanders accumulated a .361 hitting percentage, almost triple their previous high in a match this season (.124 vs. Bryn Athyn on Oct. 14).

With the win the Highlanders improve to 2-11 on the season and will next take the court on Thursday when they host Centenary in a CSAC match at 7:00 p.m.
