Cairn Takes Win At Bryn Mawr College, 60-55

Bryn Mawr, PA – Cairn University won their fourth game of the season on Monday night when they defeated non-conference foe, Bryn Mawr College, 60-55. The advantage for the Highlanders came down to free throws, as Cairn made 12 compared to Bryn Mawr's five.

Both teams were equal in three-point field goals made (4) and Bryn Mawr converted one more two-point field goal than Cairn in the game (23-22). The difference in free-throw shots was caused by the Owls' 18 fouls; that was compared to Cairn's 11 fouls.

The Owls also committed more turnovers than the Highlanders; 24 compared to 16. Kendra Stum contributed to the high turnover number by collecting nine steals for the Highlanders; one more steal and she would have had an elusive triple double.

Cairn ended the first quarter with a one-point lead despite trailing for a majority of the first 10 minutes. The Highlanders then doubled their lead and went into halftime with a two-point advantage.

The Owls then came back in the third quarter and tied the game heading into the final 10 mintues. Over those final 10 minutes, both teams scored their highest total of any of the other quarters but the Highlanders were able to hold on for the five-point win.

Bryn Mawr was led in scoring and rebounding by Cleo Elizabeth-Rober with 18 points and nine rebounds. Erica Dwyer scored 15 points for the Owls.
