ResultsLanghorne, PA - Cairn University women's tennis moved to 3-4 this afternoon after defeating the City College of New York with a 6-3 score. The Highlanders won the first four singles along with the first two doubles matches to get past the Beavers.
Starting out in doubles,
Rebecca Graber and
Julia Derus defeated Ann Bui and Charlotte Dulay 8-3 in no. 1 doubles.
Samantha Shroyer and
Sara Keating then shut out Minhal Mahmood and Louiza Molohides at no. 2 doubles 8-0. Shroyer and Keating are now 3-0 this season when teaming up at no. 2 doubles.
Ricki White and
Kara Williams lost their no. doubles match to Domica Roberts and Yacine Diouf 8-3. White also dropped her singles match to Diouf with 6-0, 6-4 scores. Williams unfortunately had to bow out of her singles match due to injury.
Derus played very in her no. 2 singles match and shut out Ann Bui 6-0, 6-0. Graber also dominated her singles match against Charlotte Dulay, 6-1, 6-0. Keating followed suit at no. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Minhal Mahmood. Finally, Shroyer won her no. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-4 over Louiza Molohides.
The Highlanders will ride the non-conference win into next week they face against another non-conference opponent, Eastern University, on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
