Women's Tennis Falls to Cedar Crest at Home 8-1

LANGHORNE, PA - Women's Tennis was back home under the lights at the McCurdy Tennis Facility Friday night to face off against conference opponent Cedar Crest Collge.  The Falcons beat the Highlanders by a score of 8-1.

Cairn now 1-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play, could not build off of the momentum of beating rival, Baptist Bible College, Monday afternoon at home.  Rebecca Graber and Britta Nelson were out to a comfortable lead in first doubles play before eventually falling 9-7 to the Falcon's first doubles team.  Sara Keating and Lauren Shidel fell to the second doubles team by a score of 8-5.  The third doubles pair of Natalie Livingston and Sarah Breyer fell to their opponets by a score of 8-0.

Becca Graber picked up the lone win for the Highlanders friday night, beating Falcons number 1 6-0, 6-1.  The freshman has now won three straight at first singles, and will look to continue her streak against Cabrini tomorrow afternoon.  "I'm proud of the team, and I'm looking forward to where we are going to go from here," said freshman Graber.

Natalie Livingston was the only other Highlander to take a set from the Falcons, before she was eventually defeated in three sets by a score of 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Britta Nelson found herself in a new role on the team.  She had been previously playing in the number six singles spot and had been doing quite well.  Coach Wilson tinkered with the matchups and deceided to move Nelson to the number four singels.  Nelson was defeated in two sets by scores of 6-1, 6-2.  Nelson had this to say about the move to the number four spot.  "I feel I played really well and the score may not indicate that.  I don't want to be in the number six spot anymore, and I'm looking forward to the challenge of playing number four singles."

Cairn will have another quick turn around as they will leave tomorrow morning and head to Radnor, PA to take on Cabrini College during their homecoming.  The match is slated to start at 12:00 pm.
