Highlanders Struggle to Find the Back of the Net, Lose 3-0 to Wesley

Box Score DOVER, DE - Men's soccer traveled down I-95 to Dover, Delaware to take on the Wesley College Wolverines Wednesday night, a game that saw the host Wolverines come out on top by a score of 3-0.

Wesley was able to control all offensive categories last night, out shooting Cairn 23-7, corner kicks 8-0, and score 3-0. Wesley was able to strike first in the contest.  In the 9th minute of play, Holden Wingate capitalized on a corner kick, with his header finding the back of the net to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead. Eight minutes later, in the 17th minute, Will Mileski, was able to beat the defenders and goaltender Caleb Pancoast for the Wolverines second goal of the contest.

Hoping to regroup at the break, the Highlanders were still not able to find the back of the net, but fired of five shots in the half. The final blow came in the 59th minute when the Wolverines beat Pancoast for the third time sealing the 3-0 victory. 

"The guys played hard tonight, especially early in the second half.  Ultimately our first half mistakes put us in a hole we couldn't get out of" said assistant coach Tim Ebersole.

Wesley improves to 5-2-1 (0-0 CAC) while Cairn falls to 1-6-1 (0-1 CSAC). The Highlanders have the weekend off before they jump back into conference play when they will travel to Hackettstown, NJ to take on Centenary Tuesday afternoon.
