Men's Soccer Blanked by Lancaster Bible

Box Score LANGHORNE, PA - The Cairn University Men's Soccer team fell to long time rival Lancaster Bible College by a score of 2-0 Wednesday afternoon.

The Highlanders were under attack from the beginning of the match as Lancaster Bible managed to fire 27 shots with 10 of them on goal.  In the 21st minute of the match, Lancaster's attack finally broke through the Highlander defense, as freshman Ivan Correa netted his fourth goal of the season.

In the 40th minute of play, Lancaster drew a penalty shot, which goalie Caleb Pancoast had no problem handling.  In transition, Cairn had their first scoring opportunity of the match when a cross was put just over the net by Caleb Moore.  Going into the half, Cairn remained down 1-0.

The second half saw, Cairn have more scoring opportunities, but the team remained unsuccessful in their efforts to find the back of the net.  However, it was Lancaster who struck again in the 70th minute as Edward Bills came off the bench for the Chargers to net the second goal of the game. 

"It's another step in our journey; we are going to have to embrace the process each day and get better from it" said Coach Luke Gibson.  "It is disappointing losing to a rival, but we are excited to get back at it Saturday at Baptist."

The Highlanders fall to 1-4-1 (0-0 CSAC) and will be back in action Saturday afternoon, as the team opens up conference play and looks to get back to their winnings ways against Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit.
