Box Score

The Lady Highlanders welcomed non-conference, NCAA Division II Philadelphia University Rams to the Mason Activity Center Wednesday night and were able to take one set from the high powered, fast paced offense of the Rams.

Cairn got off to a sluggish start loosing the first set 8-25, but starting finding their groove behind the offense of Kate Steger.  Steger led all players with 17 kills on the night and also managed to pick up 11 digs.  Brigid Shehan had a team high 12 digs while adding 8 kills of her own.

Coach Fuller had this to say about tonights game, "I thought we controlled our side of the net, we served to good spots, and were consistent on passing which kept us in the game and allowed us to take one set from a very talented Philadelphia University team."

A key aspect to the passing game that Coach Fuller had mentioned, which allowed Cairn the chance to pick up kills, was the setting of freshman Sami Delfino.  Delfino dished out a game high 29 assists.

"To Philadelphia University's credit, they were running a quick offense by running stacks effectively said Assistant Coach Nate Keating.  Our players have not seen this often in practice, since D III teams do not usually run stacks, so our coaching staff will do a better job preparing our team for a high caliber offense and letting them see what a quick offense looks like."

Cairn will travel to Moravian College on Friday night at 7:00 pm before returning home Saturday morning to take on Arcadia.
