First Half Hat-Trick Highlights Highlanders Home Win

Langhorne, PA: The Cairn University Men's Soccer team picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon with a 7-1 victory over Valley Forge Christian College.

The Highlanders paced the scoring in the first half scoring six goals.  Sophomore Connor Eby (Kansas City, MO / Northland Christian) scored the first goal of the game for Cairn when he finished a cross sent in by freshman Kenneth Mercadante (Toms River, NJ / Atlantic Christian) to put Cairn up 1-0. Junior Caleb Moore (Monroeville, NJ / Gloucester County Christian) put the Highlanders up 2-0 on his breakaway goal.  Moore would assist the next Cairn goal when his corner kick found Ben Cardillo (Little Egg Harbor, NJ / Pinelands Regional) in the box to give Cairn a 3-0 lead.  Sophomore James Karsor (Monorovia, Liberia / Pennsbury) would capitalize on a free ball in the box to put Cairn ahead 4-0.

Eby would close out the first half with back to back goals will just under ten minutes remaining in the half to complete the first half hat-trick.

Cardillo would score the Highlanders lone goal in the second half.  He was on the receiving end of another Caleb Moore corner kick.  The Patriots would find the scoreboard late in the second half on a goal by Matthew Robinson.

Cairn will return back to action on Saturday when they travel to Farmingdale State College.  Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m
