Box Score Gwynedd Valley, PA- The Cairn University women's basketball team endured a difficult loss as they fell to the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy College today.

A pair of Emily Tambussi free throws and an Amie Eppolito three pointer gave the Lady Highlanders an early lead in the contest, but the Griffins offense caught fire for the rest of the afternoon.  Gwynedd Mercy scored the next eleven points, until another Eppolito three ended Cairn's scoring drought.  Another commanding scoring run from the Griffins staked them to a substantial lead at the close of the first period.  The second half followed nearly the same script as the first, as Cairn struggled to score and Gwynedd Mercy overpowered the Lady Highlanders.  When the contest finished, the Lady Highlanders had fallen by a score of 109-29.



Cairn could not find the bottom of the net for much of the afternoon and on a day where the Griffins shot 50% from the field, and over 40% from three, a lackluster offensive output simply would not cut it.  

The statiscal leaders for the Lady Highlanders were:

Amie Eppolito (16 points, 2 steals)
Emily Tambussi (7 points, 9 rebounds)
Brigid Shehan (4 points, 6 rebounds)

The Lady Highlanders will travel to Scranton Wednesday night to face Marywood University in another CSAC clash.
