Bronxville, NY - Cairn University women's tennis fell by a score of 7-2 today to the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence University. The Highlanders' record moves to 3-9 on the season while the Gryphons improved to 6-4 on the season.
Rebecca Graber continued her strong play this season by securing a win in her No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-1. Along with Natalie Livingston, Graber also won her doubles match against the Gryphons 8-4. This past week, Graber was nominated to the Honor Roll for the CSAC weekly honors, that article can be
found here.In that doubles win, Graber and Livingston broke serve to go up 1-0 and broke again to take a 4-1 lead. The Highlanders kept the lead until the end to finish 8-4. In Graber's singles match, she won the first five games and the final six games of the second set for the win.
Britta Nelson gave the Highlanders a chance to come back in the match when she won her second set 6-2 at the No. 4 singles. Going into the super-tiebreaker, Nelson took a 6-1 lead over Pyatt but Pyatt came back with six straight points. Nelson tied it at 7-7 but Pyatt won the final three points for the win.
The Highlanders next match will take place this Friday, 10/10, on the home courts at 3:30 p.m.
