Box Score LANGHORNE, PA - The Women's Soccer welcomed the Giants of Keystone College to Langhorne, and although jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the first half; the match ended in a 1-1 tie after 110 minutes.
Box ScoreA 110 minutes was not enough time to determine a winner Saturday afternoon as Keystone and Cairn would play to a 1-1 tie. Cairn out shot Keystone 23-13 while having to play with only 10 on the field for a majority of the game. In the 14th minute of play, Cairn's
Alyssa Leister went down with a leg injury and needed to be carted off the field. Already in season that has seen the Lady Highlanders plagued with injuries, Cairn was forced to play with only 10 players for the second consecutive game. The Lady Highlanders continue to show heart and fight as they kept blasting shots on the Giants net minder.
Laurisa Wager had six of Cairn's 23 shots, and just six minutes after Cairn would lose a player, one of those shots found the back of the net, giving Cairn the 1-0 lead.
Keystone used the break at half time, and came out firing to start the second half. After only managing one shot in the first 45 minutes of play, Keystone would fire 11 shots toward freshman
Mackenzie Paugh. In the 64th minute of play, Rebecca Lewis would cross a ball to an open Jenna Moranski who was able to get her head on it and find the back of the net. Cairn continued to have Keystone back on their heels as
Courtney Novak and
Hannah Morrison would break through the defense to fire shots on goal, but the Giants net minder was able to come up with the saves.
With the clock ticking down with under 10 second to play, Novak would fire a shot just wide of the net and game ended in a 1-1 tie. Cairn held a 5-1 advantage with shots in the extra play. Paugh made six saves for the Lady Highlanders.
Wager had this to say about the game. "I'm really proud of our team. We didn't give up and I'm looking forward to see what we can pull together in the games ahead."
Cairn will be back in action Tuesday afternoon, as they will welcome long time foe Baptist Bible College to Langhorne.
