Box Score Baltimore, MD- The Cairn Highlanders lost a back-and-forth affair 32-28 this afternoon against the Notre Dame of Maryland University Gators.

From the first whistle these teams proved to be a very even match up as they battled to a score of 16-16 in the first half.  Junior Brigid Shehan (7 points, 11 rebounds) acted as the driving force for the Highlanders in the early goings as she chipped in 7 first half points behind an array of midrange jumpers.

A 10-2 run by the Gators to begin the second half proved detrimental to the Highlanders hopes until sophomore star Amie Eppolito caught fire.  The point guard would score the last 9 points of the game for Cairn and finish with 13 points and 9 rebounds on the night.  Eppolito's two free throws with 2 minutes left would be the last points the Highlanders would score as they fell 32-28 in a hotly contested game.

Sophomore Emily Tambussi  also finished with 5 points and 11 rebounds.

The Highlanders resume play at 7:00 pm Monday night against Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA.
