The Griffins arrived bearing a new school name, having changed last week from Gwynedd-Mercy College to Gwynedd Mercy
wt
University. What hasn't changed is the strength of the Griffins women's tennis program. Gwynedd Mercy has either been CSAC finalist or champions in seven straight seasons and on Friday they proved too much for the Highlanders, sweeping aside Cairn 9-0.

First-year player Kate Eubank provided the toughest competition for the Griffins, as Eubank stole six games from her opponent Kristen Kriebel (6-4, 6-2) in the 4th spot in the singles match-ups.

Rebecca Hardman also gave GMU's Taylor Michener a run for her money, fighting to a 6-2, 6-2 score.

Gwynedd Mercy swept the doubles competitions with 8-0 scorelines across the board.

The loss drops the Highlanders to 1-2 on the season but 0-1 in conference play.

Cairn returns to the court tomorrow as Ken Wilson and the Highlanders travel to Immaculata to take on the Mighty Macs in another CSAC match.
