Langhorne, PA - Cairn University's women's tennis team hosted the visiting Nittany Lions of Penn St.-Abington on Tuesday afternoon in their 2013 season home-opener.

Starting things off with doubles play as they always do, the Nittany Lions took an early lead taking two of three matches. Cairn's tandem of Dana Hartman and Sarah Breyer took down their opponents 8-0 to keep the Highlanders within one point heading into singles play.
In the second spot, Rebecca Hardman took the first set against Abington's Olya Popili 6-2, but Popili responded by winning two straight sets 6-3 and 7-5.
First-year player Katie Eubank earned her first career singles win, winning with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 score. She wasn't the only Lady Highlander to register her first win. Sophomore Natalie Livingston edged out a 7-6, 6-2 victory.
It would be the only points for the Highlanders though as they fell by a score of 6-3 for their first defeat of the season.
The team will host Gwynedd-Mercy College on Friday as the Highlanders kick-off their Colonial States Athletic Coference schedule.
