Hartman Sets Career-Record as Cairn Takes Down BBC, 8-1

Breyer claims a 6-0, 6-1 win over her opponent
Clarks Summit, Pa - The Cairn University women's tennis took care of business in impressive fashion on Friday, taking down long-time rivals Baptist Bible to the tune of 8-1.

Results

To start the day off, the Highlanders swept the series in Doubles play taking an early 3-0 lead. In the number spot for doubles, first-year players Katie Eubank and Sara Keating combined to knock off Bliss Lecea and Kay Black, 8-6. In the second doubles contest, senior Dana Hartman and sophomore Emily Van Teyens made quick work of their opponents with an 8-0 win. Cairn won the third doubles spot by default.

The Highlanders took five out of six singles match-ups, to claim the 8-1 win on the day. Second year player Liana Jensen record her first ever singles win, sweeping her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Sara Doorly didn't take long to log her first career win, winning by an identical score 6-0. 6-0. Sara Breyer won 6-0, 6-1 to start her season on the right foot.

Of note was Dana Hartman's doubles win. It marks her 21st career doubles win, ranking her number one all-time in Cairn history. Hartman was tied for 1st place with her long-time doubles partner Meghan Whittington, who now helps out with the women's tennis program.

The Highlanders will now have to wait nearly two weeks before returning to the court when they host CSAC powerhouse Gwynedd-Mercy College on September 13.
