Women's Volleyball Sets New Mark in CSAC

La Plume, PA – The women's volleyball team set a new mark this weekend when they defeated the Keystone Giants, 3-1. With their win, the Highlanders improved to 10-1 within the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Ten wins is a new-high mark for Cairn in the CSAC.

The Highlanders dropped the opening set 23-25 before responding with a resounding 25-10 second set win. `Things were a bit closer in the third and fourth sets, but the ladies showed why they had already locked up the 2nd seed in the upcoming playoffs, earning 21-16 and 25-21 wins.

Junior Brigid Shehan led Cairn with nine kills. Abbie Keating tallied eight kills while Rachel Johnson, Emily Mayer, and Nicole Spicer each registered six. Erin Greenwood logged 34 assists. Libero Ashleigh Colomina had a solid 11 digs, but it was Shehan with a team-high 17 digs.

This Thursday, the Highlanders will host a CSAC Semifinal contest but must wait to discover who their opponent will be.

Back in 2008, the Highlanders went 9-1 in their first season as a member of the CSAC. In 2006, Cairn was competing in the North Eastern Athletic Conference where they finished 10-4.
