Despite Slow Start Cairn Tops Ursinus, 3-1

Box Score Collegeville, PA - Women's volleyball bounced back from a first set loss to earn a 3-1 road win against Ursinus College.

Junior Brigid Shehan and senior Emily Mayer both reached double-digits, pacing the Highlanders attack.

Shehan registered a game-high 11 kills with Mayer adding an additional 10 kills. Senior setter Erin Greenwood tallied 35 assists, helping Cairn finish with a 41-27 advantage in assists.

Ursinus did outblock the Highlanders 9-4, but Cairn came up with eight more digs than the Bears, 74-66.

Shehan came up huge on the defensive end as well, coming up with a game-high 20 digs. Senior libero Ashleigh Colomina had 16 digs.

Continuing in her development as a second-year player, Nicole Spicer contributed both offensively and defensively with eight kills and 14 digs.

After dropping the opening set 25-21, Cairn responded strongly with a 25-9 win in the second set. That set up the ladies with the momentum they would need to cruise the final two sets, 25-16 and 25-12.

The Crimson are now an impressive 17-5 on the season.

Cairn gets back to their Colonial States Athletic Confernece schedule when they hit the road against Rosemont College this Saturday for an 11am start. The Highlanders rolled the Ravens last season, 3-0 (25-5, 25-11, 25-9).
