Phoenixville, PA - The women's volleyball team split results in their tri-match against Valley Forge Christian College and Lancaster Bible College.
The Highlanders started things off with a 3-0 blanking of Valley Forge. Sophomore
Brigid Shehan logged 9 kills to lead the Highlanders in attack.
Erin Greenwood assisted 23 kills on 68 total attacks.
Ashleigh Colomina came up with 21 digs on the defensive end.
Things would go down to the wire against Lancaster Bible in a 5-set thriller. The teams alternated as winners throughout the sets with LBC claiming first blood with a 25-23 opening set win. Cairn responded with a 17-25 win to knot things up. In the third, it took extra points to decide a winner, with the Chargers prevailing 27-25. As they've done so well this season with their backs against the wall, the Highlanders answered with a thumping 13-25 win in the fourth set, once again tying things up. To the fifth and final set they went, but the trend continued with LBC taking the spoils 3-2.
Abbie Keating led the Highlanders in attack against the Chargers with 17 kills, followed by
Emily Mayer who finished with 13. LBC's Lauren Heliger topped everyone with 25 kills. Hannah Metzler tallied up 50 assists, beating out Erin Greenwood by 8. Greenwood finished with 42 helpers. No one came close to matching Ashleigh Colomina's 53 digs.
Cairn is now 10-6 heading into their second conference match against Keystone College on Thursday.
