W. Volleyball Cruise in Tri-Match

Gwynedd Valley, PA - Cairn University's women's volleyball team cruised this weekend to back-to-back sweep's of Delaware Valley College and conference opponent Gwynedd-Mercy College.

Abbie Keating and Brigid Shehan led the way in the day's opening match against Gwynedd-Mercy College. The pair each recorded 9 kills and had 12 and 11 digs resectively, helping the Highlanders to a 3-0 win (25-12, 25-11, 25-12). Cairn was in control of all three sets, with the exception being the start of the 2nd set. After winning the first set handily, the Highlanders saw the Griffins jump out to a 4-1 lead. It was only the second time the Griffins led and didn't last long as Cairn quickly came back to tie the game at 5-5 and taking control.

In the second match of the day, Cairn took on a similar opponent in Delaware Valley College. Last weekend, Cairn came from 0-2 down to claim a 3-2 victory. This time around, the Highlanders had an easier time of it winning 3-0, so to speak. Abbie Keating was once again proved influential as she logged 11 kills and 17 digs. Although Cairn took the match 3-0, they had to work for it each game, eventually taking things 25-19, 25-21, 26-24.

Following this weekend, the Highlanders sit at 9-5, 1-0 in CSAC play.

September 25th, the Highlanders travel to Phoenixville, Pa where they will face Valley Forge Christian and Lancaster Bible College in a tri-match.
