Women's Volleyball Sweeps Weekend

Doylestown, PA - The women's volleyball team were victorious in both matches this weekend against Delaware Valley College and New Jersey City University.

The host, Delaware Valley College, were up first for the Highlanders. There wasn't much to separate these two teams, but the Aggies came very close to making it a quick 1,2,3. The Aggies jumped out to a 2-0 lead after taking the first set 25-19 and winning a marathon second, 29-27. With their backs against the wall, the Highlanders responded in the best possible way. Led by Rachel Johnson's career-high 21 kills, Cairn took the final 3 sets (25-23, 25-20, and 15-9). Junior setter Erin Greenwood tallied 44 helpers.

Abbie Keating logged 20 digs and chipped in with 9 kills offensively. Sophomore Brigid Shehan contributed 17 digs and 11 kills.

In the day's second contest, the Highlanders made quick work of New Jersey City University. After sweating every set with Delaware Valley, Cairn exploded to a 25-7 opening set win. NJCU picked things up for the second but were still unable to match the Highlanders as the CSAC team won 25-18. The final chapter of the weekend was 25-15 closeout set for the Highlanders, sweeping NJCU.

Rachel Johnson proved to be unstoppable all day, adding 11 more kills to her 21 earlier. Five different Highlanders recorded 4 kills as the offense utilized a team approach.

Cairn improves to 7-4.

The Highlanders will host Philadelphia University on Tuesday at 7pm.
